Typical Costs When Travelling

Accommodation – Hotel prices range according to their stars, season and location. A decent hotel in the center of London may cost up to 90 EUR per night. A hostel though can go as low as 25 EUR per night.

London is full of hotels, all range prices and stars. This is one of the places where common living was invented. People migrating from different places all looking for a shot in the big city of dreams. Some of the best hostels in the world as well as guesthouse can also be found in London but be aware as London it is a place of possibilities which can also mean that you could end up in very dodgy place if you don’t do your research well.

Food –  Fusion of international cuisine with thousands of dishes and  many vegan friendly places. From 5 stars Michellin restaurants to the dirty hot-dog from the street vendor from Camden Town, London is full of unforgettable flavour at every step. Expect to pay anywhere from 15 Euro to 400 or even higher for a dinner for two.

Transportation – Very easy and many options. Buses, trains, taxis, bicycles, scooters, cars, black cabs, tube or just walks. London is extremely organised when it comes to public transportation and it is fairly cheap in most cases. Driving in London though may put you up against infernal traffic queues. A tube ticket costs anywhere from 8 EUR to 15 EUR and the bus about 3 to 5 EUR for trips within the city. If you want to visit other nearby cities, be ready to pay around 50 EUR for a train ticket.

Suggested daily budget – 50-60 EUR / 52-62 USD (Note: This is a suggested budget assuming you’re staying in a hostel, eating out a little, cooking most of your meals, and using local transportation. Using the budget tips below, you can always lower this number. However, if you stay in fancier accommodation or eat out more often, expect this to be higher!)

Money Saving Tips

1
Get the menu of the day Because is something prepared in bulk and it costs less then the cost of preparing a dish a la carte, ordering the day menu is very common and preferred even by locals.
2
Ride with Uber Uber is affordable, fast and available. The city is full of Uber cars waiting around the corner, it is available 24 hours and pretty safe. Riding an Uber in London can also be interesting and funny, you don't know what car will appear in front of you in the city of possibilities.
3
Get city passes Passes cost less than few ways ticket. So plan few days ahead and buy yourself a pass. It will spare you the cost and long queues of buying a ticket.
4
Couchsurf London is full of people looking for ways to make an extra pound. Couchsurf is actually a big thing in this city and is usually pretty safe too. Couchsurfing is actually big community and people ``registering their couch`` undergo some kind of due diligence before registering (https://www.couchsurfing.com/places/united-kingdom).
